Together with the students and teachers, conductor Joel Mathias Jenny works out a concert program under customary rehearsal conditions, just as would be part of the professional routine for a musician.
1. Orchestra work
2. Audition Pieces
With their confirmation of registration, the participants will receive a list of difficult pieces from the concert and opera repertoire, which have to be prepared and are later tackled as part of the course.
3. Obligatory and Own Choice Pieces
"Obligatory piece" for auditions for strings means a first movement with cadenza of a concert from the classical period (Mozart, Haydn etc.). During the course week, the participants work on this repertory.
As "Own Choice Piece" for auditions, the first and second movement of a significant concerto – mostly from the romantic era – is to be played.
Over the course of their professional lives, the teachers of the Orchestra Academy hear numerous such auditions and hence they know precisely what the jury is primarily looking for.
