Michel Rouilly was born in Zurich, where he also received his initial tuition from Ottavio Corti. He later continued his studies with Bruno Giuranna.
His career began as Solo-Violist with the Städtisches Orchester St. Gallen. In 1983 he was appointed to the same position in the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. In addition to his activities as soloist and chamber musician, Michel Rouilly teaches at the ZhdK, Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
Michel Rouilly performs on an instrument made by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi 1754.
